The Vancouver office was established in 1980 with John Maclachlan and John McDiarmid. Since its inception, this office has successfully completed numerous high profile debt and equity transactions on a variety of properties such as office buildings, industrial, retail, apartments (NHA and conventional), hotels, mini storage, and retirement facilities. In addition, this group has strong expertise in arranging construction financing on commercial properties and condominiums.

Alan Walrond, B.Com., R.I.-Principal joined Montrose in 2003 after serving as the B.C. Branch Manager of a national mortgage correspondent that managed a $6 billion mortgage portfolio, where he had worked for 14 years. Prior to this, Alan worked at a high profile Vancouver mortgage brokerage firm that specialized in construction financing, after graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia. Alan is a member of the Real Estate Institute of Canada. |

Bob Klimek, BA-Principal has an Economics Degree from the University of British Columbia and joined Montrose in 2005 bringing with him over 30 years of commercial lending experience. Previous employment includes positions at a bank as well as a trust company that originated commercial mortgages for institutional investors such as pension funds.Bob also worked for one of Western Canada’s largest developers prior to senior and principal positions with prominent Vancouver mortgage brokerage firms. |

Ross Porter, BA-Principal has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Victoria with a major in Economics. Ross joined Montrose in 1995 and had previously worked for CMHC as well as in commercial lending positions with two trust companies, a chartered bank, and a national mortgage banking firm. |

John Maclachlan, B.Com.-Principal has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia and is one of the founding partners of the Vancouver office. John has worked with several institutional investors with national operations. Prior to joining Montrose in 1980, he was the head of mortgages for one of Canada’s largest life insurance companies. |
