Montrose Winnipeg was first formed in 1951 and now comprises five loan originators and underwriters. The Winnipeg office also serves as a training office for those new to our company.

The key people are:

Richard Brownscombe –President and CEO, Montrose Mortgage Corporation Ltd. Richard joined Montrose in 1991 after spending over 10 years in real estate including direct lending at a major Canadian Chartered Bank and property management and development in Winnipeg.

Richard serves on the board of the Investment Committee of the Civil Service Superannuation Board, the pension plan for Manitoba civil servants.

Frank Azevedo, B.Com. - Senior Vice President  joined Montrose in 1998 immediately following his graduation from the University of Manitoba's Asper School of Business where he majored in Finance. As Vice President of Mortgage Investments, he is responsible for the development of new business opportunities and oversight of the Montrose Winnipeg underwriting team.

Working closely with all stakeholders including Borrowers, Lender Partners and Mortgage Administrators, Frank develops and coordinates customized financing solutions that ensure successful mortgage financing outcomes. Frank has a twelve year track record in financing structures that include acquisitions, land development loans, refinancing, or bridge financings on institutional quality asset classes including multi-family properties, condominium developments, hotel, office, retail, industrial and retirement residences.

Mark Davies, B.Com., - Managing Director,joined Montrose in May, 2006 immediately following his completion of the B. Comm (Hons) program at the University of Manitoba majoring in Finance.

As the Managing Director of the Winnipeg office, Mark is directly responsible for Montrose Winnipeg policy and procedures with a specific focus on the development of improved methods and outcomes for underwriting, loan structuring, and funding of mortgage investments within the Winnipeg office. This also encompasses the oversight of commitment letters, loan renewals, and loan documentation.

Mark's responsibilities also include the management of a $1 billion portfolio of existing loans together with the recruitment and training of new underwriting personnel.

In his spare time, Mark is an active private pilot.

Brad German, B.Com., – Vice President, Mortgage Investments

Brad German is the Assistant Vice President of Montrose Winnipeg and has been with the company since 2006. Brad's responsibilities include the origination and structuring of new mortgage lending opportunities and the ongoing management of the Montrose Winnipeg mortgage portfolio. Brad's experience includes an active role in all aspects of the structuring, placement, and closing of senior and subordinated debt financings across all asset types. Brad works closely with private and institutional Borrowers with a specific focus on tailored financing solutions. In addition, Brad has worked closely with our national lender partners which vary from large Canadian Life Insurance Companies, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, Chartered Banks, Pension Funds, Private Capital and National and regional Credit Unions.

Brad holds an Honours Degree in Business, with a major in finance from the University of Manitoba Asper School of Business.

Andrew Girdner, B.Comm. – Underwriter

Andrew joined Montrose in 2009 and is responsible for the research and analysis of Montrose Winnipeg loan underwritings. He also assists in the management of the Montrose Winnipeg portfolio, including CMBS assumptions, renewals, mortgage commitments, property inspections, loan defeasances, and assumptions.

He completed his Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) degree in 2008, majoring in Finance and Marketing. During his education, Andrew worked with a California based company specializing in subprime financing. Upon completion of his degree, Andrew spent a year with the development of a renewable energy infrastructure company where he focused on government relations and technology partnerships.

In his spare time, Andrew is working toward a CFA designation.
